Leadership is dependent on the ability to have a positive influence on those around you. There are many ways to establish leadership qualities. People on the path for self-discovery want to create their own unique experience. Often people will look towards a leader in their life who can be trusted to inspire creative thought and foster introspection. People in general, can only be taught when they accept a teacher and a teacher accepts them. A teacher/student relationship that is not developed mutually will fall short of satisfaction for both parties. Without a doubt the best way to teach is by example. Power in leadership comes from what you do, not from what you say. Living a practical example of what you wish to teach is the best way to expose other people to your own individual philosophy.
I have found that the most influential method of leadership involves teaching concepts to people without them ever knowing that they are being taught. With conscious intention your way of life becomes a model for others in your community and allows them to choose whether or not they wish to emulate some or all of your behaviors.
I have chosen to live my life in the tradition of Mastery. Mastery of the life experience is complex but fascinating because it requires a person to set a code of conduct. The following is a small part of the philosophy that I believe it takes to be a Master.
A Master is a teacher, a person who has a passion for knowledge and the dissemination of knowledge. A Master examines and chooses a philosophy of life. He lives his life’s philosophy with passion. A Master has a keen sense of what is right and what is wrong. There is no decision making or uncertainty regarding justice and injustice. A Master just innately knows when to defend justice and he takes action when it is needed. When he does take action it is powerful and the outcome is certain victory. He knows how to pick his battles and when to let something just flow to its inevitable outcome. A Master gives of himself to help others understand what he understands, that the ultimate goal of life is to become one with nature. A Master says what he means, means what he says and follows up on it. A Master has respect for tradition and uses tradition as a base for growth. A Master has a presence about him that deflects conflict without a word being spoken. A Master can physically destroy any adversary then heal a person with the same power and a different intent. He understands that balance is impossible but constant correction can keep a person on course. A Master knows when to train his body hard and when to let it rejuvenate. He has respect for his body and constantly attempts to increase it’s potential. He is always training his mind because the power of the mind can always increase. It is the power of the Master’s mind and body that leads to the cultivation of the spirit. He sees the development of his spirit as a responsibility. A Master looks into in the eyes of the elderly and into the eyes of a baby and sees the same thing, wisdom. A Master sees God in nature and lives knowing that God sees him as a person that he can trust. A Master does all of this with an extraordinary passion for excellence in the art of living.
Leadership is dependent on Mastery but you must develop your own philosophy for the way you live your life. The way you live will consciously or unconsciously be an influence on others in your life. Please take the time to consider what your own philosophy is because your life is an example to your community. Powerful leadership will result when you see your attitudes and actions carried out in the behaviors of people who matter most in your life.
